BIOGRAPHY

Mark Metekingi was born in Wellington, New Zealand. During the 1970’s, he was a manager at a bistro in Hong Kong when he was cast as one of the thug’s in The Way of the Dragon (1972). He later appeared in the Bruce Lee bio-pic, Bruce Lee – True Story (1976) (aka Bruce Lee the Man the Myth).

In the 1980’s, Mark was back in New Zealand and teaching at school. Pop superstar David Bowie made a rare public appearance during his Serious Moonlight tour to New Zealand in 1983. As a respected tribal elder, Mark helped look after Bowie during his visit.

Among his talents were singing and live theatre. In 1991 he starred in a Porirua Little Theatre production of the World War II musical, “Somewhere Over There”.

Mark passed away on the 14th of June, 2003 in Rotorua, New Zealand.
